The signature on 20 October 2016 of the renewed cooperation agreement between the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission will further enhance the exchange of knowledge and expertise between scientific research and European standardization. Renewed agreement reaffirms longstanding cooperation. Through this agreement, CEN and CENELEC will provide support for the development of scientific and technical input to policy developments for which European standardization is relevant. The JRC will provide scientific input, in its areas of expertise, for European and international standardization.
The agreement reaffirms a longstanding cooperation in the field of standardization and pre-normative and co-normative research established under the previous Cooperation Agreement signed in June 2010. The partners already collaborate in a wide range of projects and technical fields.
